West Jordan, UT · Teton Estates Park — 6-acre neighborhood park

Tetons DGC

6 acres · 9 holes · 2 layouts · Opened April 26, 2023

The Story

The Tetons began with Robert Bumgarner walking his dogs through a 6-acre neighborhood park in West Jordan twice a day. He saw disc golf holes where others saw open grass — spray-painted tee locations, placed metal poles to mark baskets, and sketched out a full 9-hole layout.

Scott Belchak, who grew up an eighth of a mile from the park in the 1980s and watched it get built in the 1990s, prepared a professionally printed saddle-stitched booklet and pitched the project to West Jordan officials. Mayor Dirk Burton's reaction was immediate: "Wow. This is just for us?"

The city's total investment came in under $20,000 — baskets were the biggest expense. Tee pads were built by West Jordan's street team on their day off, with costs folded into the street-team budget. ElevateUT donated signs and course design in exchange for logo placement, making the Tetons one of ElevateUT's earliest course projects.

Hole 9 was originally designed as Hole 1 but was moved because forehand and left-handed drives kept landing in an adjacent city council member's yard. The solution: "The Swole Pole," a large mandatory on Hole 9 that redirects errant throws away from residential property.

Dan Langford later ran weekly flex leagues at the Tetons using UDisc, growing the Daybreak Disc Golf Club to 50-60 members. That community credibility became the foundation for the Bingham Creek course advocacy effort.

What Players Say

cameronlee6464★★★★★

An excellent putter course. Clever use of space, beautiful park, some difficult shots, not a birdie fest, though every hole is birdiable. A fun and valuable course for both aspiring professionals and casual throwers.

bomberang★★★★

Very great course for what they had to work with. I loved the use of trees and mandatories to add some complexity to the holes. Great course for beginners and fun for ace runs or approach practice for more advanced players. For a nine hole course in a small little neighborhood park you can't ask for much more!

peptoshotz★★★★

Short fun park course. Excellent use of the space. 7 and 8 are delightful.

alexhallumsdisc★★★★

Solid 9 hole course. Grassy & park style on most holes. Nice views. Slightly technical. Wish it was 18! Worth a visit if you're in the area or looking for something new!

krunktoten★★★★★

Nice park course. Layout is kind of odd. But it's maintained well. Had a fun time. I would recommend changing hole 9 to hole 1 so you start on the other side but it's all about the same in the end.

Maintenance

West Jordan Public Works maintains the park grounds. Isaac Astell (Public Works Director) serves as the primary city contact. ElevateUT provided initial signage and design support. Community volunteers handle disc-golf-specific upkeep through informal coordination with the Daybreak Disc Golf Club.
